Vanessa Rieger started her artistic path at a young age spray painting on the streets of Toronto. At the age of 16 she started working for the city facilitating mural programs and graffiti transformation projects with other youth. While attending an arts high school for theatre she excelled at writing, directing and set design, and discovered her true passion within the visual arts. After graduating, she attended the Ontario College of Art and Design to refine her abilities in painting and installation. While completing a BFA in Drawing and Painting, Vanessa was also exposed to other mediums such as printmaking, video, and performance art. She experiments with all these mediums to cultivate a multi-disciplinary artistic practice to realize her concepts and ideas to their fullest.

Vanessa currently lives in Toronto where she works as a carpenter apprenticing in cabinet making, spray booth finishing and also works freelance fine-art framing and art-assistance.

In 2009, she helped found the board of directors at White House Studio Project and acted as Project Manager for 3 years.

Vanessa currently sits on the Board of Directors for WhipperSnapper Gallery.
